We met nomad ladies on Carola pass ( alt. of almost 5000m ) in Tibet in our tour August 2018. They were using two different types of spindles, one for warp, the other for weft.
We had very special time in Tibet. Nature was grate, History and Buddhism were so deep. And we could fulfill our own purpose that was to visit Ralung Monastery, from where the founder of Bhutan, Shabdung Ngawang Namgyal came.
Though we were not able to visit local houses to see weaving in Tibet, our textile tour was very memorable one. That is all because of the sweetest guide and driver. Moreover, our driver was expert of braiding, we had braiding lesson from him.
Milk, cheese, butter, dairy products are very important for Bhutanese people. I thought it came from Tibet in the past but I went to Tibet and found the way of using milk is totally different between Bhutan and Tibet.
Frankly to say, I did not have much interests in Panden or Tibetan apron, as its design is very simple, but when I got there, I noticed that is most beautiful and suitable in the large scale nature of Tibet. I was fascinated with Panden.
I had two chances to visit Tibet in July and August 2018. Tibet was so grate and interesting. Also I could understand what I had seen in Bhutan only when I came to Tibet. The King Trisong Detshen, Padmasambhava, Santaraksita often seen in the alter of Bhutanese temples, finally I got the story of them by visiting Samye Monastery.
Mountain is magnificent of course but nothing else in Nepal ???????? Through my latest trip to Nepal, I could find some answers that Nepal had been the country of Art and History, in fact Buddha statues in Tibet and Bhutan, many of them were made by Nepalese artisans. Thanks to our guide, Mr. Rajendra Shakya for sharing his deep knowledge and warm hospitality to my group, I would like to make a different Nepal tour in future again if I ever have a chance.
Our guide Mr. Rajendra. unglazed pottery makes yogurt very rich and tasty.
。Mokokchung to Mon is short if we could drive straight, but we had to go out to Assam once and drive back to Nagaland again.
Small but very interesting Mopungjukit village. We could see traditional Ao woven and painted shawl.
